Main Business of Convention
Go to this page for the webmaster’s report on the 2012 convention: http://www.michiganlp.org/Webpages_Aux/2012/Convention_Report.pdf Here is the list of solid candidates that we nominated statewide: http://www.michiganlp.org/Shared%20Documents/candidates.aspx
The LPM State Convention was held in Livonia this year. Renee Lewis put together a wonderful program that included a debate between two strong Senate candidates, great accommodations, well-organized deliberations, and a sterling banquet featuring leading peace and freedom activist Adam Kokesh.
Gary Johnson was also nominated as our top of ticket, even though the Michigan Secretary of State has ruled the former Republican presidential candidate may not appear. [This link (http://www.ballot-access.org/2012/06/03/michigan-libertarian-party-state-convention-takes-action-to-guarantee-gary-johnson-is-on-the-november-ballot/) takes you to a Ballot Access News column by Richard Winger, which argues convincingly that Gary Johnson WILL be placed on the Michigan ballot following legal action–should the Secretary of State remain obstinate.]
Thanks to everyone who made the 2012 convention such a success! Please pick a race and put your shoulder to the campaign. Many hands make light work, and YOU will make 2012 a banner year for LPM membership and activism!
