2010 Candidate Training Seminar Smooth and Powerful

More than 40 prospective Libertarian Party candidates turned out for the Candidate Training Seminar in Brighton, Michigan on the afternoon of Saturday, April 17. Political Director Bill Hall welcomed the enthusiastic crowd and gave a presentation on Campaign Basics, including assembling the campaign team, researching the district and issues, preparing a campaign plan and campaign outreach and other activities.

LEC member and veteran activist Greg Stempfle outlined ballot strategies. Political consultant and Small Government Alliance Executive Director Timothy O'Brien gave a fascinating presentation on fundraising and working with the media. Hazel Park City Councilman Andy LeCureaux discussed targeting your message to the voters.

IT consultant Ben Kohl unveiled the template website the LPM is offering free to its candidates, to many excited questioners. Veteran candidate and activist Scotty Boman discussed using social media as an outreach tool. Leonard Schwartz, an attorney and veteran activist covered paperwork and campaign finance requirements for candidates. State Chair Emily Salvette discussed the upcoming State Convention on May 22 and National Convention over Memorial Day weekend, May 28-31, and urged LP members to attend both. It was a very successful event.
