  2. LPM Lansing Office Still an Option — by Will Tyler White

The Capital Area affiliate has negotiated to extend the lease of the Lansing office for its own use until our June convention. This will give the membership and the new LEC an opportunity to renew the lease if so desired.

The Capital Area affiliate will also be submitting a bid for the entire remaining inventory (which is not much) for that same purpose.

What is left is old and in poor condition (except a few chairs). The only thing of much value is the 3-year-old computer (the other one dates from last century).

An office pledge program has been proposed, which is what funded the Hazel Park office. An article in the next newsletter will give us several months to measure the support and debate the issue.

  3. Voters Bill of Rights Forum in Lansing Press — by Will Tyler White

Sunday January 13, The Capital Area affiliate hosted a Voters Bill of Rights forum at the LPM Lansing office that resulted in a nice story and photo in the Lansing City Pulse. "The Other Sides" is the title of the piece, and the photo shows "The Libertarians .... clearly had the classiest banner".

Held in conjunction with the Michigan Third Party Coalition (MTPC), the event was designed to garner support for the coalition's 15-plank platform to reform the election process. The Voters Bill of Rights draft can be accessed at the Capital Area web site, calparty.org, or by joining the MTPC yahoo discussion group (mithirdparties).

The event was a successful "open forum and debate" as advertised and generated good public interest. The publicity and direct mail effort resulted in five new members the following week.
