Elsewhere in this issue of LPOnline is a description of the upcoming Libertarian Party Region 3 Convention in Dayton, Ohio, on August 3-5. This is a great opportunity to educate yourself in the grass roots political skills you need to help your local affiliate succeed, and to network with other Libertarian Party activists from across the country. If you're unable to attend due to financial considerations, an LPM donor has offered to help out. We have two scholarships available to cover the $100 registration fee for the convention, and might also be able to provide a shared room for the two nights of the convention. Several activists are attending from Michigan, so rides may also be available. If interested, please contact Erin Stahl, Vice Chair and Affiliates liason, at erinstahl@earthlink.net. If you or someone you know is a Libertarian running for office this Fall, and looking for campaign support, the Libertarian Party of Michigan is exploring ways it can help you. For example, we're doing an upgrade of our database, and hope to be in a position to help you mobilize members, contributors and activists in your area to help your campaign. The National LP has its BallotBase program, which provides the technology to mobilize a phone bank in your district in order to make get-out-the-vote calls. We could also help connect you to volunteers willing to provide content for your website or other materials. We can also provide advice on campaign finance law compliance. Please feel free to contact Political Director Leonard Schwartz at Leonard@LeonardSchwartz.us or LPM Chair Bill Hall at whall@wnj.com The Region 3 Convention is almost here. Please join us in Dayton August 3-5 to become a better activist and a winning campaigner. If we're to get onto the political arena and begin to play in THE game, all of us need more training and direction--ALL of us. It's one thing for libertarians to protest and question; but, leadership will require specific skills and the ability to convince voters we can govern. The training we receive in Dayton will help us build strong organizations and campaigns that can get Libertarians elected and have our voices heard. Please ask all libertarian-minded souls to join us in Dayton on August 3, 4, and 5. Details and online-registration are at the Region 3 web site: www.lpr3.org |
