  2. Ballot Proposals — by Leonard Schwartz

It is illegal to place in a public library material encouraging people to vote for or against a ballot proposal. I have already found vote NO on MCRI handouts at libraries. If you see any illegal material in a public library, please remove it. You shouldn't inform the library staff. They might question your right to remove it. Just remove it.

  3. Detroit News Endorses Libertarian! — by Scotty Boman

The Detroit News has endorsed Robert Hutchinson for the 7th District House of Representatives position. (October 20th Edition)

Hutchinson is the first Federal Libertarian candidate to be endorsed by the well-known daily publication, and the third Libertarian (for any office) to have that honor. The First was Mary Ruwart, for State Board of Education, and the second was yours truly for Detroit City Council (1997).

The reason for the endorsement is especially intriguing: "In the open 7th District, the major party choices are the far-right Tim Walberg and the far-left Sharon Marie Renier.

We'll shun the extremes and take our chances on the Libertarian candidate,

Robert L. Hutchinson , a retired Air Force major from Dexter."

  4. LP of Washtenaw Co. to host Liberty Fest — by by Scotty Boman

You will only find this announcement in LPM online, and not the Michigan Libertarian. In my haste to see that the most recent Michigan Libertarian reach members early, I failed to give the Washtenaw Co. Group time to include an article in our publication.

However you should receive a flyer for the event by direct snail mail, and the pdf file may be down-loaded from:

  6. Creswell and Boman get 3 minutes on Kalamazoo’s Ch. 3 — by Scotty Boman

On the Thursday Morning Newscast of WWMT-TV (Channel 3) in Kalamazoo, Greg Creswell was interviewed for the news program's “Three Minutes in the Spotlight” segment. Scotty Boman had the same opportunity on the Friday evening newscast.

WWMT deserves special recognition for being the first commercial broadcast TV station to count to three when addressing the gubernatorial campaigns. Then again, three is their channel.

  8. LP of West Michigan is still offering a subdomain — by Scotty Boman

I am passing this information along from Eric Larson.

The LP of West Michigan is still offering a sub-domain and candidate template for all statewide and federal candidates. We will also provide technical support/editing if you'd like. Great format even if you're just running an educational campaign.
Location: Web site offer from the LP of West Michigan
Contact: Eric Larson Phone: 616-949-2844 Email: chair@lpwm.org

My comment: Since it is simpler (and adds repetition) to use mi.lp.org in radio ads about candidates and the election, and since the majority of calls to myself and the LPM are by Journalists and groups attempting to reach candidates, I have asked that our domain go directly to the candidate page.

I have attempted to have each candidate's name link to web sites with information of some sort. This includes Vote-USA.org (Which provides a good free service for such). Nevertheless, I would much prefer that candidates take advantage of the lpwm offer. Even paper candidates can elevate our image, by posting a brief introduction, with a picture and basic contact information. The templates provide for a professional quality web page.

  9. Michigan Libertarian in the mail — by Scotty Boman

The Pre-Election issue of the Michigan Libertarian was sent out last week and is due to arrive in your mailboxes any day now.

Since the post office took a month to deliver the last issue, I am concerned that this doesn't happen this time. Subscribers and dues paying members: Please email me at scottyeducation@yahoo.com when your issue arrives so I can guage how long the PO is taking.

If you don't get your "Michigan Libertarian" by October 28th. Email me (with your zip code) so I can investigate the matter and register a complaint with the USPS.
