  2. Liberty Fest

The Executive Committee needs an affiliate to host the Liberty Fest. If no affiliate is willing to host it, there won't be a Liberty Fest this year.

Liberty Fest is an LPM banquet held in November, usually the first or second Saturday after the election.

To volunteer, contact Scotty Boman ASAP

  4. Schwartz 8% and Creswell 6% in Poll — by Leoanrd Schwartz

Poll Indicates Success of LPM Strategy

A statewide poll by Survey USA, conducted for WDIV-TV in Detroit and WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids after the August 8 primary, showed:

    U.S. Senator:

    48% - Debbie Stabenow, Dem

    41% - Michael Bouchard, Rep

    8% - Leonard Schwartz, Lib

    3% - undecided

    Governor:

    50% - Dick DeVos, Rep

    42% - Jennifer Granholm, Dem

    6% - Greg Creswell, Lib

    3% - undecided

This poll indicates that LPM's new strategy is effective. The key parts of this strategy are telling voters that:

    (1) Voting for Democrats or Republicans is a waste of your vote.

    (2) Libertarians aren't busybodies.

    (3) Libertarians are the traditional middle of the road.

  5. Bill Hall to address Family Rights Coalition — by Tim O'Brien

The LPM candidate for Michigan Attorney General, Bill Hall, will be addressing the joint memberships of the several organizations that comprise the Family Rights Coalition at a special meeting in Oakland County on Monday, August 21, at 7:00pm.

The group is keenly interested in the Libertarian alternative to incumbent Republican, Michael Cox, who has attempted to build his reputation -- and federal subsidy funding -- on the broken families of Michigan.

The event will be held at the Oakland County Complex at 1200 N. Telegraph in Pontiac. It is free and open to the public.

This is an outstanding opportunity for the LPM to reach out to a large, political constituency that is anxious to have a genuine voice in the public policy debate.
