  2. Membership Database and Web Server Information

As many people are aware, our membership database, Nidus, has not been working since last October when the national party began sending us data in a new format. Many people have continued using Nidus to looking up contact information for members. However, it has come to my attention that some people are still updating information in Nidus. Please be advised that because of the national party’s switch to a new database, any data entered into Nidus since last September may be lost.

Over the next few days we will begin moving to a new web server. Continuing advancements in technology make it possible for us to get a much more powerful server for significantly less money.

As we move to the new server, we will be installing a new and improved version of Nidus. Affiliate officers who need access should contact the Membership Director (MemDir@michiganlp.org) for a login to the system.

Any affiliate that would like to host their web site on the LPM’s server, may do so for free. The state party will allocate up to 100 Meg for any affiliate that requests it. Included with this, each affiliate will have their own administrative control panel for management of email addresses, forwarding email addresses, creation of databases, and more. PHP and MySQL access will be included so that the affiliate may use some advanced programs like blogs, stores, etc. If you have your own domain name, you can continue to use that on the LPM server, or, if you would like a canonical domain name, we can set up one of those for you also. Any affiliate that would like to take advantage of these features (or has questions about the features) should contact the Membership Director (MemDir@michiganlp.org).

  3. Looking Toward LibertyFest by Nathan Allen

The bidding is now open for LibertyFest!

If your affiliate has been considering hosting LibertyFest, please contact me this week. Some interest has already been shown and I want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to make an offer. LibertyFest is held annually between the election and Thanksgiving. Putting together a high quality event takes time and the sooner we get started, the better. Contact Nathan Allen, chair@michiganlp.org

  4. Positions are Still Open by Nathan Allen

The LEC is still in need of a Communications Director, Development Director and a Newsletter Director. Perhaps the most pressing position is that of Newsletter Director. We need to have a newsletter go out shortly after our first LEC meeting on June 12th. Even if you may not be interested being a Director, you can still be the newsletter editor. Contact Nathan Allen, chair@michiganlp.org
