- Resignation and Farewell
by Keith Wesselmann
My employment in Birmingham, Michigan ended last month.
Since then I have been looking both locally and nationally
for my next career move, and I have accepted a position in
Sausalito, California, beginning August 18. Therefore I must
resign from my positions as Treasurer of the Libertarian
Party of Michigan, Vice-Chair of the Libertarian Party of
Oakland County, and Treasurer of Friends of David
Eisenbacher, as well as bid grateful farewell to many great
people throughout the state of Michigan who share my love of
liberty.
It was in 1998, when I lived in Georgia, that I first
discovered the Libertarian Party and began voting for every
LP candidate on the ballot. In 1999, when I lived in
Alabama, I became a member of the LP and started attending a
few meetings. But it wasn’t until 2000, months after I had
moved to Michigan, that I discovered a legion of gifted,
devoted, and well-organized Libertarian activists who drew
me into an active role in the quest for freedom. In the last
three years I gained more knowledge and inspiration than I
could have imagined from more people than I can name, and I
am eternally grateful to each person who has been a part of
my growth as a Libertarian. And while I know what I have
given to the cause of liberty during those years pales in
comparison to what I take away, I hope my contributions have
made some kind of positive difference.
