  2. Leonard Schwartz Campaign News by Leonard Schwartz

My campaign for judge of District Court 45B is going great.

The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press had articles about all nine candidates. The Detroit Jewish News had an article just about me. (Seven candidates are Jewish. The other two are African-American.) None are incumbents.

I'm the only candidate with a web site, www.schwartz22.com.

My campaign team already did two mailings to absentee voters. Other voters will receive my campaign brochure shortly before the August 6 primary.

From newspaper articles and word-of-mouth, many people already know who I am when I knock on their doors or campaign at concerts in the park.

Nearly everyone likes my stance on the issues. They especially like my stance on traffic tickets: Yellow light traps, stop sign traps, and speed traps are sneaky and unfair ways of raising revenue. Police should focus on unsafe drivers. They should not have ticket quotas. Police should be public safety officers, not substitute tax collectors.

Even elderly women dislike the abuse of traffic laws. They are angry not only about receiving tickets unfairly, but also about the treatment they receive when they go to court to fight the tickets.

The primary election is Tuesday, August 6. I need volunteers to help distribute literature at polling places in Oak Park, Huntington Woods, and Pleasant Ridge.

    To volunteer, please contact me:
