- LPWM to hold its Annual Liberty Banquet on April 7th, 2001
by Jeff Steinport
The Libertarian Party of West Michigan is proud to
announce its annual Liberty Banquet, to be held on the
evening of Saturday, April 7th. Our guest speaker is Robert
Metz, the founder of the Freedom Party of Ontario, Canada.
The Freedom Party is the Canadian counterpart to the
Libertarian Party USA. Bob will speak about the activities
of the Freedom Party and show us a video presentation of FP

efforts of libertarians in Canada.
The banquet is being held at the Highlander in
Standale, 4072 Lake Michigan Drive NW. The banquet begins at
6:00pm however cocktails begin at 4:30pm.
Each ticket for the banquet is $20 and payable in
advance. We ask that interested parties RSVP by March 25,
2001. If anyone has any questions, please contact Jeff
Steinport at jeffs@pathwaynet.com or 616-447-0721.

- Announcement
by Michael R. Corliss
Dear fellow Libertarians,
As most of you know, our current State Chair, Stacy Van
Oast, has decided not to run for reelection. Stacy has done
an excellent job, particularly in assisting and motivating
the candidates during the long campaign last summer and
fall. Since she has decided to step down, however, I am
hereby announcing my plans to run for the office of State
Chair for the LPM.
Over the past two years, I have had many interesting and
fruitful discussions with LPM members across the state about
what our short- and long-term objectives should be, and what
strategies are best for reaching them. While there is a wide
variety of opinion on these matters, I believe that I will
be able to work with all parties to unite the membership
behind a set of clearly defined, attainable goals that will
advance our party, and the cause of Liberty, over the next
year. I look forward to spirited debate on the issues facing
us, and I hope to win your support.
Sincerely,
Michael R. Corliss
