  2. Ballot Access Restoration Committee Needs to Hear from You by Ben Bachrach

In early December all LPM members were mailed a letter from Ballot Access Restoration Committee chair Nancy O'Brien. The letter was not the usual solicitation for donations. In addition to asking us to make a financial donation to the upcoming Ballot Drive, the letter asked all of us to declare how many signatures we will commit to collecting once the drive starts in April.

Although the seed money to start the petition drive is important, it is even more important that we get a feel for the strength of commitment for collecting signatures.

To date 98 people have responded, if you are one of them thank you.

41 people have made signature committments totaling just over 2,100 signatures.

That's 5% of the approximately 40,000 signatures we need.

75 of the 98 people made donations totaling $3,150. That's 21% of our goal of $15,000.

Is it possible that it is easier to raise money than get our membership to collect signatures?

I would like to hear from the 95% of our membership who did not respond to Nancy's letter.

If you are willing to collect signatures to get the Libertarian Party on the Michigan Ballot, please email me an estimate of the number of signatures you expect to collect. If you will not help, that information is important too. My email address is: Ben45@aol.com.

    Thank you.
