  4. Congressional Candidate Rick Friend to Speak at Macomb

Speaking at the July 12 meeting of the Libertarians of Macomb County will be Richard Friend Libertarian candidate for US Congress, District 10. Richard Friend was born in the Port Huron, Michigan. He was adopted and raised in Dearborn, Michigan, resided in the State of Michigan all of his life, and has been a resident of Port Huron for over the past ten years.

Richard Friend served a term of duty with the United States Air Force and honorably discharged in 1963. It was in 1967 that he completed his basic education and obtained his GED. In general, Richard advises that he obtained his education through life in general and considers himself to have attained a graduate degree in the school of "Hard Knocks".

It was in 1996 that Richard was watching Harry Browne run his campaign for the presidency when he realized that the Libertarian Party was the only party that could accomplish the same things he was interested in. Up until then, Richard had been patiently waiting on the Republican Party to achieve liberty but that time has passed. They have failed to uphold the basis of the Constitution and failed to grant the American public it's freedoms.

In 1997, Richard attempted to run for the City Council in Port Huron but was unsuccessful due to not getting the required signatures. Now, Richard is seeking the office of a United States Congressman in order to restore the liberties once held by the American public and to bring the government back under the reigns of the Constitution. The current system of government is made up of those who want to tell you what to do, where to send your children to school, what you can and can not do with your property, etc. Richard Friend and the Libertarian Party, are the only candidates that want to give you, the American public, back the responsibility for your own life and allow you to make your own choices for yourself and your family. The politicians currently in place are so removed from the wishes of the American people that it is time to get someone in who understands and is one of the American public. Richard Friend is R. Friend, Libertarian, for United States Congress.

LMC meetings are held at Mile's World Restaurant 17689 Masonic (near Groesbeck), Fraser, MI 48026. Dinner will be available for $12.95 with a selection of five entrée items. Drinks are separate. Please join us 6:00 PM for dinner and 7:00 PM for business and an informative speaker.
