Dear Friends: Just a quick note to let you know that I was recently named a Comunity Leader on America Online, and to ask for the assistance of LP members who use AOL. My specific area of responsibility is in the new web-based "Hometown AOL" area. Hometown AOL (www.hometown.aol.com) hopes to compete with similar web- based communities such as Geocities. My role is as Community Host in the Politics and Philosophies area. Community Hosts are the highest-profile volunteers on AOL, and are involved in crafting what you experience in the area. If you click the link below, you'll see my first effort on the web has a definite libertaian twist to it, though I have a responsibility to showcase all views. Any AOL member can post a page to Hometown AOL, and I'd appreciate your passing this email on to your state's LP email list. PLEASE: ANY LP MEMBER ON AOL--create a web site on AOL, and ADD that page to the Libertarian area in Hometown AOL. It's important that we build up as large a prescence as possible. Use it to tell the online community about your opinions....your candidacy.....or why you are a Libertarian! For now, the service does not allow non-AOL pages to be added, but I expect this to change in the future and will put the word out at that time. As you'll see by clicking on the link below, The first two "featured sites" have clear libertarian themes--keep in mind I can only "feature" those sites which are "added" or registered by AOL members. The more LP-related sites there are, the easier it will be for me to feature pages which support our cause! We've already got several LP candidate pages up, for example. And yes, in a few weeks you'll see a photo of yours truly on the site, identifying me as a Community Host. Let's hope it doesn't scare off too many folks! Remember, millions use AOL every day. We need the exposure. Thanks for your support! Mark Tuniewicz LP National Treasurer

The date has been set for the Annual LPWC flagship fun-raising event. The 1999 Sam Adams Liberty Festival will be on Saturday, April 17 from 1-5pm at the Pittsfield Grange in Ann Arbor. For the past three years the Libertarian Party of Washtenaw County has hosted an event honoring the American Patriot Samual Adams. This year we're hosting an educational and fun afternoon for the whole family. Plans include speakers, historical re-enactors, traditional music, and games for the kids. Price will be only $10 per person and free for young children, so bring the whole family. Watch the state newsletter for our invitation, or visit our new LPWC web site at http://www.mi.lp.org/wash/. |
