Wayne County Affiliate Needs Many Activists to Volunteer for Duel Events

By By Scotty Boman, Chair
Wayne County Libertarian Party

Detroit, MI - On September 7th there will be two major outreach events in Detroit. This includes the annual outreach table at Dally in the Alley, and a special visit from Black Guns Matter founder Maj Toure.

The key will be finding Libertarians who are willing to forgo the attending the Black Guns Matter event and staff the outreach table at the Dally. Thousands of people will turn out at Dally in the Alley for about twelve hours of music, food, art, beer, and merchandise.

The annual event is in the heart of Detroit's Cultural Center by W. Hancock & Second Avenue. Volunteers are needed from early morning through early evening. Peek time is from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The party goes late into the night, but volunteers will start packing up after Sunset.

The location of Maj Toure's visit is yet to be determined, but it will be held in Detroit to ensure easy accessibility to urban residents. Black Guns Matter is a group that educates people in urban communities on their right to keep and bear arms through education and firearms training. He believes inner-city Americans have been left out of the gun rights conversation.

Also, He supports arming urban residents and giving them proper training in order to curb violence.

The Brass Roots Plaque may also make an appearance. That being dependent on whether a volunteer with a flatbed, or roll-back, tow truck is willing to transport it to and from the Lansing area.

If you wish to volunteer, call Wayne County Chair Scotty Boman at (313) 247-2052 (Voice Only) or email scottyboman@hotmail.com

Boman Schedules Facial Privacy Day to Protest Mass Surveillance

Detroit, MI - Scotty Boman has been challenging the Detroit Board

of Police Commissioners (BOPC) on their failure to block the expansion of facial recognition technology in Detroit. The Detroit Police Department has equipped it's Project Green-light cameras and traffic cameras with facial recognition technology. They lack a credible policy to prevent abuse. Boman appeared in the News 7 (WXYZ) coverage of the June 27th meeting of the BOPC:

What bothers me is real-time facial recognition, where the camera is on you and it's live... They see who you are while you are moving about the community... Giving them that technology and allowing them that kind of use is what I'm most afraid of...

Boman has schedule July 11th to be observed as Facial Privacy Day, and is urging everyone to volunteer to wear a mask or a veil in public places as a protest and to celebrate facial privacy. He is urging Detroiters to attend the July 11th Meeting of the Board of Police commissioners with their disguise. The Michigan Open Meetings Act prohibits organizations like the BOPC from requiring attendees to identify themselves. "Your face is your ID." Boman said.
